James Legaspi
is an emerging Filipino Canadian multimedia artist living and working in Brampton, Ontario. Through video, text, and performance, Legaspi explores experiences of race, gender, class, and their intersections with the artist’s familial history. Legaspi received an Honours Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto and an advanced diploma from Sheridan College, along with the Dr. Annie Smith Travel Award upon graduating. Legaspi has screened and exhibited work in Toronto, Seattle, and Quezon City, and has worked at the Blackwood Gallery and the Toronto Reel Asian International Film Festival. Legaspi is an alum of Visual Arts Mississauga’s Creative Residency program and Reel Asian’s Unsung Voices program.
